letters that make sense

I have been reading books lately that seem to have a lot of seplilng mistakes in them. I find this amazing that big publishing houses are releasing books that have things like "adn" instead of "and ", perhaps I am losing my ability to spell or am I becoming a grumpy ol' reader?!
